As the Talisman Foundation is not a custodial care facility, the type of residents
admitted are of a medium to high functioning level with all the rights and responsibilities
which this entails.
The facility does not take residents who are in acute phases of their illness, which
necessitates them having their rights and responsibilities temporarily removed. It
is understood therefore that, barring a legal placement as an assisted or involuntary
user, no person admitted to the Talisman Foundation as a resident is incapable of
making their own decisions, or does not have the capacity to make an informed decision
with regards to their own well being.
